It has indeed been awhile, and I sincerely apologize for not making more of an effort to keep doing what I set out to do in starting this blog…which was to leverage this space to share my experiences and perspectives to inform and inspire others with similar pursuits. The good news is that I am still committed to doing that, and the even better news is that now that my core classes are completed I will (hopefully) have more time to share more content. I took the time to analyze my site statistics and I want to thank everyone who supported whobutaaron.com in 2010.
This site was born in June 2010 and to date has 10 posts (not bad for one of the busiest 6 month periods of my life) and was viewed 2,400 times in 2010. To put that number in context, a Boeing 747-400 jet can hold 416 passengers which means we’ve had about 6 full 747′s worth of visitors. We hope you enjoyed the trip in 2010 and I want to know whobutaaron.com can do to better serve you in 2011, so let me know at whobutaaron@gmail.com
January is always an interesting time filled with vacation-refreshed faces of people filled with a renewed sense of optimism and resolutions for the new year. More often than not life gets in the way and by July those resolutions get re-prioritized (in a bad way). I wanted to share two of my resolutions with you.
Do At Least One Nice Deed For Someone Who Didn’t Expect it Everyday
I had dinner with a friend a few nights ago and we were talking about getting into the habit of service orientation. Part of being a good citizen and leader is acting as a servant to others. I have committed to performing an unexpected act of kindness everyday in an effort to sew service into the world and hopefully as a result reap more positives in my life.
Make An Effort To Make My Interactions More Meaningful
When I worked at Lehman Brothers I had a boss that used to say “Why send an email when you can make a phone call, why make a phone call when you can have a meeting.” His mantra was grounded in inspiring bankers to connect with clients more meaningfully to in turn generate more revenue. I think this same concept can be applied in my personal life . We live in a twitter, text, facebook world, But in 2011 I will create more opportunities to truly connect with people rather than having quick and surface ones interactions. Be on the lookout for a handwritten note from me on my new stationary!
Those are two of my resolutions that I wanted to share (I have about 10). What are yours? Let’s achieve them together.
